Quality

Wood Pellets are NOT Just Wood Pellets - Quality is the KEY to your boiler functioning correctly.

There have been wide variations of quality with wood pellets in recent years, and poor quality pellets do cause problems for the customer. Cheap wood pellets made from poor quality materials, are often badly manufactured and damaged during delivery, giving you problems with dust, ash, clinker, blockages and poor boiler efficiencies.

For these reasons, it is important to check the specification of fuel that your boiler requires. The majority of boilers will require pellets from virgin timber that are manufactured to the CEN / TS 14961 (A1), ONORM M1735, or DIN 51731 standards.

Consistent High Quality Standards

We do not use any reclaimed or waste material as it may produce heavy clinker, damage your equipment and require a permit to burn We only source wood pellets made from virgin timber that comply with the above standards as a minimum.

We have strict testing and quality control policies in place with our suppliers and within our business. We have invested heavily in our storage facilities to enable the wood pellets are handled as gently as possible. All wood pellets are tested and inspected on delivery. Pellets are carefully segregated in storage, and then screened and metal detected before being loaded out to customers.

Billington Biofuels regards Quality as its overriding key principle - good quality gives you peace of mind, security and true value for money.

Virgin Timber Vs Waste / Reclaimed

We believe that wood pellets manufactured from virgin timber provide the best value over the life of the boiler. Please read the following case study to find out why.
